Our WA NT Adventures begin Fri 8 July 2011

Friday 8th of July 2011

This holiday has been 3 years in the making, it is wonderful to have begun our adventure.

Greg worked this morning, then hitched up the van and we set off at 1pm.

I was amazed at how much ‘stuff’ we fit in the van and there is still quite a bit of room for more.   It will be a very comfortable journey.  There was much debate on the way whether we had put the pillows in.

We had an easy journey to Port Augusta, the scenery was stunning.  I loved the colours – blue water, rugged  brown hills, the vegetation was many shades of green against the pink earth it was mesmerising.  We pulled into the park around 5pm.   They didn’t have our booking so they gave us an ensuite site for the same price.   Needless to say we have been using their toilet!!   They are really common in Caravan Parks now, but this is the first one I have been in and it is very nice.

After Greg parked the van, I went to the car to start unpacking it – it took a moment to realise there was nothing to unpack, it was all already in the van!!  Took me back a bit, so what was my role then??  This was too easy!  Eventually I worked out that I needed to be helping Greg set up the van – I tried to put one of the stabilizer legs down, but it wouldn’t budge!!  So I went to see how Greg was doing it – yes I managed to put one leg down Greg did the rest of the setup!!  Tomorrow night I am going to be more useful.   This is much easier than the camper trailer and cleaner!!

We had been in the van for a while and I remembered the pillows – but alas they were not on the bed!   Must still be on the bed at home.    We do have the pillows that came with the van, will see how my neck scrubs up in the morning, we may be pillow shopping in Ceduna tomorrow!

We went to the local pub for dinner, was really good food – which was a pleasant surprise – the dining room was booked out – evidently it is booked out every night.   The town must be thriving.

Feeling pretty pooped!   I will be having an early night tonight – then off  to Ceduna in the morning and the beginning of the golf course across the Nullarbor.

Thinking of Aiko – hope she is doing ok.   And nephew, hope you feel better tomorrow.

Night xo

    Lovely start besides the pillows!!!!

Aiko had a good evening and is doing all her normal things. She particularly enjoys lying on the bed beside the fire. Her new favourite spot :))

Will update you in the morning.
