The UK has approved a 3rd vaccine for use, adding the Moderna Vaccine to its list.
New rules have been announced for both domestic and international flights. These measures include:
Anyone coming to Australia must have a negative result Covid-19 test within 2 days of departure.
Masks are mandatory on all international flights and in international terminals.
On arrival in Australia all international passengers must quarantine for at least 14 days, this time may be longer for people coming from locations with the new more infectious strain.
International flight crews must have a Covid-29 test every 7 days and will be required to quarantine in specialist quarantine facilities whilst here.
For domestic travel, all passengers and crew must wear masks

China has introduce “Anal Swab” testing as a test for Covid-19. Officials there saying that the test is more accurate than nose swabs as the Coronavirus stays active in the gut much longer than in the nose. They say the test is much more accurate and the rate of misdiagnosis is much lower. Germany is saying that the AstraZeneca Vaccine should not be given to anyone over 65 years old as there was insufficient data on the effectiveness of the vaccine on that age group. This is due to the limited number of people in the trials that were in this age group. Catch-22

Concerns are being raised in Europe over the data available for the AstraZeneca Vaccine for use in people aged over 65. The EU has approved the vaccine for people in the age range 18 to 65, and want more data before they change the range.
Johnson and Johnson have released early data on the vaccine they are developing. It shows to be 85% effective against moderate to severe Covid-19 and is a single dose vaccine that does not require refrigeration.

The early phase 3 trial results have been released for the Novavax Vaccine, which Australia has committed to purchasing 50 million doses. The early results show it to be 89% effective against the standard virus and less so against the variants.
