Wednesday 27th July 2011 Onslow turnoff to Karratha 240km

We spent time outside looking at the stars last night, they
are beautiful in the outback, the sky was alight with them.

I had a good sleep last night, but evidently I snored most (maybe all) of the night and Greg was awake a lot of it.   Imagine how loud it must have been, if Greg thought it was loud!!   He was very lovely though, he blamed it on the fact that our feet were a tad higher than
our heads last night.    Bet the van will be levelled in future!!

We woke after 7am and it was beautiful outside, very foggy – who would have thought.

Free camping is lots of fun and the scenery lovely, there are a lot more people free camping up here, probably because a lot of the parks are full.

I am really enjoying the scenery in the Pilbara, it is ever changing and we are now in the rich red soils, it is quite green and there are
lots of wild flowers out.

We set off around 8am, the car is playing nice, although we still have the warning light, the crack on the windscreen is a few more inches longer too!!    Got to the Pilbara Holiday Park in Karratha around 11ish – the park is full, we got the last site when we booked a week ago.   It is a very lovely park, lots of shade and lots of space between each site, in contrast to the one at Coral Bay where the sites were all on top of each other!

We soon got set up, did the washing, and went out to stock up on food (the bill was not as expensive as we thought it would be  🙂 )

Oh yes did I say that it is 28C up here mmmm so lovely and
warm 🙂

After lunch we went to the Information centre and now have a plan for tomorrow, we are off to Dampier – 30km away.   Will be back early afternoon and I will be putting my feet up.

Hope our grandchildren are enjoying being back at school –did you know that we have a big photo of you with us, the one we took of you all on the couch down at Victor.  We usually have you on the table with us when we have our meals 🙂  You always make us smile – you are a bit too quiet though for our liking – you will have to make a bit of noise when we get home!!

Hope you had fun up in Singapore Laura, you will be on the
way to the airport soon, safe travels.

Love to you all xo
