Thursday 18th of August 2011 Darwin

Had a lovely dinner last night at the Trailer Boat Club and enjoyed watching the sunset – the sun was red – mesmerising, thanks for the suggestion Lyn.   🙂

Slept better  last night, not woken by planes taking off, or even too much alcohol from the night before!! 😛

Greg washed the van this morning and I did a couple of loads
of washing, all before 8am, if you don’t get in quick in Caravan Parks to do your washing, you end up in queues waiting for a machine – then you end up having to talk to other people!!!
Actually all of the conversations I have had with others in the parks
have been good.  Everyone is so relaxed on holiday.   At lunch time when I was taking the washing off the line a young guy was putting his on, he took it out of the machine, put it all on the ground then proceeded to fold it over the line – he had no pegs (that is quite common and invariably it ends up on the ground) – I did in fact wonder if he had any soap for the machine!!  😀

We headed out to the Northern Territory Museum and Art
Gallery – it is all together in the one building – I have to say it is one of the more interesting Galleries I have been in.    Sweetheart Crocodile is in there (they didn’t know if it was male or female, so called it Sweetheart (it was male)  it is 5-6metres long – enormous.   There was an interesting exhibit on Cyclone Tracy, a Maritime exhibit with some great boats in,  Indigenous Art, a great collection of birds and butterflies and many other interesting  things.

We relaxed and did some reading this afternoon and also
planned some things to do in Kakadu.
Greg has nearly finished his second book only 20 more pages to go!!

We went into Mindil Market again tonight, looked around the
stalls, walked on the beach, put our feet in the Arafura Sea and listened to some great buskers – was very good people watching on the beach.

We head out to Kakadu in the morning for 3 nights – I am hoping we see some crocodiles.

Thankyou for all of your messages on our blog, emails, texts, phone calls and facebook messages, we really enjoy keeping in touch with you all.  Much love from us xo    🙂
