Monday 29th of Aug 2011 Alice Springs

Had a good night last night the Caravan Park we are staying in put on a free show with a guy that plays the didgeridoo, Marshall Whyler.    He was really very good, has played with Orchestras around the world – impressive!  Not only did he play but he also explained how you play the didgeridoo, was really very informative besides being entertaining.

This morning we took ourselves off to the Alice Springs Courts
– I presume it was the magistrates court but it did not say.    We asked which was the most interesting court, to go in, the lady shrugged her shoulders then directed us to the largest court.

We stayed a bit over an hour, it was interesting and sad.   Most cases were adjourned to a later date but we heard a few, thought the magistrate was very fair – but I did want to pay the fines for those found guilty of a charge.     I figured on $200 a week they wouldn’t have any money left over to be paying a fine and so the cycle continues!!

Then we drove up to Anzac Hill and had a look over Alice – we have done this before but it was still good to have another look.

Greg bought himself another book this morning – no actually
he bought 2!!    He is definitely on a roll 😛

In the afternoon we (Deb did) did some cleaning in the van, so hopefully there is not too much to do when we get home.   And also relaxed and did some reading and got the van packed up to head out tomorrow.

We are having tea with Dee and Mick tonight – will be good
to catch up has been ages, they moved up here earlier this year.

Tomorrow we are hopefully heading out early, heading towards
Coober Pedy or further (Not likely!!).    Let you know next blog where we end up!

Greg here, I guess you have all figured I am the one responsible
for the couple of comments in brackets, lol.

Yesterday afternoon there was a fire burning in the hills behind the caravan park, last night just before we went to bed I had a look out
the back and saw the fires were on the top of the ridge about 400m from the caravan park.  This morning they had progressed a little closer to us but were restricted to the top of the ridge and were being fanned along by a good breeze away from us.  In the afternoon the breeze shifted and the fire almost burnt itself out.
