Tiuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 October 2012 Port Stephens and Wyoming / Gosford

Tiuesday 16 October 2012  Port Stephens to Wyoming / Gosford  134km

We had an easy start to the day and were all packed up and  on the road by 8:30 for a leisurely trip to mum’s place in Wyoming, just north of Gosford.  We arrived at about 10:30.

Mum had reserved us a parking spot out in front of her place for us to park the van for the duration of our stay with her.  So it was just a matter of pulling in, unhitching and then unloading a bit of stuff out of the van.  By 11:45 we were done and I made myself some lunch before heading out for a round of golf with Craig at Wyong Golf Course.

I picked Craig up and we were at the course by 12:30 and hit off soon after.  I was fully expecting to get flogged.  Craig has just moved from C Grade to B Grade, and my golf of recent times has been more hacking than golf!  Oh, and on the way he then tells me the course is presently set-up for their championship rounds!!  I was happy when we got to the first hole and I could swing a club freely.  The drugs I took in the morning and an hour before tee off seemed to have worked a treat in getting my back moving!  Look out Ben when I get back, I may have found the secret to being able to swing!!  The round was very relaxing and I surprised myself with 4 pars and a worst hole of 8!!!  Craig eventually won by 6 strokes, 95 to 101.  My score would have been a lot better if I’d been able to sink a putt from more than 1m .  We had a couple of beers and then headed home. It was loads of fun to get out on the course with him and we had a very enjoyable afternoon.

Craig and Cook came around to mum’s for dinner and we had a very relaxing, enjoyable night.

Wednesday 17 October 2012  Wyoming

We had a quiet morning at mum’s place.  I did a few odd jobs around the place and helped her with a couple of little hiccups she was having with her computer.

Mum then got out her portable record player, and asked me to have a look at it.  She had dropped it and couldn’t  get it to work.  With the help of the instruction booklet, I got it all up and running and mum had me play a couple of near 100 year old 78 rpm records on it.  An interesting experience, there is a reason why some things never made it to digital format!

After lunch we went for a drive to see where dad had been placed in a memorial wall, and then for a drive down to Terrigal and then up along the coast to The Entrance before heading back home to relax for the afternoon.

Tonight we are going out for dinner.  I have a mate up here who frequents a particular Thai restaurant, Thai Phunk, so we are going to give it a go.  The family here seems to have  had a dodgy experience with it in the past, and are a bit dubious, so it will be interesting to see how we go.  More on that tomorrow.

Our eldest grandchildren start playing basketball on 20th Oct, Dante is in the U/14’s Division 3 and Tessa in the U/10 Division 1   We hope they have  great games and maybe even a win. 🙂   We are looking forward to going to watch them play when we get home.
