Wednesday 24 October 2012 Bondi and Sydney

We slept in this morning (well I did) after a latish one last night.  Alot on our agenda for today.  A walk around a sculpture installation between Bondi and Tamarama,   lunch with Pat and Laura, a relaxing afternoon and the dinner with our friend Mandy at her new place in The Rocks.

We got over to Bondi by about 10am and walked over to the Bondi Icebergs Club, where the Sculptures started.   Sculpture by the Sea, in its 16th year now, is the world’s largest annual free-to-the-public outdoor sculpture exhibition.  Have a look here, http://www.sculpturebythesea.com/Home.aspx if you want to read more about it and see the works.  The sculptures ranged from extraordinary and very creative to a bit ordinary (the little toy creatures stuck in rock crevices were a bit lame), but the whole concept was great, it had got sooo many people out and about in the area, Deb commented on how busy it must be on weekends!!!   It would be well worth doing the walk without the sculptures, the scenery was beautiful.  🙂

From there we drove into town and had lunch with Pat and Laura at Manak in China town.  It is apparently a highly rated Malaysian restaurant, Pat said it was “Hatted” by one of the local newspapers, I think probably “Paddy Field Straw Hatted” but the service was excellent and the food was very good.  It was so good to catch up with Pat and Laura one last time before we left.

After lunch, Pat and Laura went back to work and we had a quick walk through Paddy’s Market in Chinatown.  It is, still, full of junk, but the fresh produce end of the market looked great  and Deb picked up some strawberries before we left.

Another  lazy afternoon, before we went to Mandy’s place for dinner.    Was a lovely evening, good food, wine and conversation.

When we got back to the van there was a strong smell of Eucalypt in the air, was a heady smell, never smelt that before, not that strong, smelt good.

Before I forget, Let’s all spare a thought for the girl in the little black dress who gets the most embarrassing moment of the night, (last night at Aria) I saw her walk out of the ladies toilets with a toilet paper tail hanging out the back of her dress! So funny, just wish I had my camera out. LOL

(And when I (deb) was in the toilets, someone in one of the stalls was bent over and had her hands on the floor near the door, she had bright orange nail polish on 🙂  I have never seen anything like it before – only at Aria!!)
