We were all packed up and gone by 9:15am. While we are travelling around we have been trying to call into all the little country markets we have seen or have found out about. This morning it was Sanctuary Point Markets. It took a bit of effort to find a park nearby with the van, but we eventually got one. It was a very small market, maybe 10 stalls. Somehow they have taken the concept of Trash and Treasure and distorted it to Trash and Trash. This would have to be the worst market we have ever been to. There is a point at which things should be thrown out rather than “recycled” at markets!!
Our next stop was the Milton Bakery. They make the Crustiest Sour Dough we have ever had, delicious, and their Vanilla Slices aren’t too bad either. Resupplied we hit the road again. We tried to call into Batemans Bay for a look around, but parking issues with the van made it a drive through instead, which was ok as we had been before. Back on the highway we came across a little village named Mogo. It had a few little touristy shops, a leather shop, a couple of galleries and a couple of Indonesian furniture shops. Deb bought a nice Blue bowl at the Pottery Studio/Shop.
Back on the road and as we were about to turn off the highway to head for Tuross Head, we saw another market in a large park on the banks of the river at Moruya. We made a slight detour and easily got a park not too far away. It was a great country market with stalls selling clothing, jewellery, arts and crafts, artisan bread, local produce and food. We got a few jars of goodies from the Chilli stall ( I passed on the Chilli Wine, but only after a bit of hard thinking over a tasting). If you’re ever passing Moruya and see the markets on, do yourself a favour and call in, it is worth a visit.
It was then onto Tuross Head. Our caravan park is right on the water where Tuross Lake enters the sea and we have a “beach front” site. The weather has been great today, blue skies and mid 20’s, I just wish the wind would drop a bit, but you can’t have everything I guess.
After settling in we went for a drive around Tuross Head and found the shops and local eateries. It’s all fairly quiet here at this time of year, but it apparently goes crazy with people in summer. Speaking of crazy. There is a Halloween Party on somewhere in town tonight, we know this because we ran into a woman at the Chilli stall in Moruya, who got a bottle of Chilli Wine for the night so she could get “really drunk and have a good time at the party”, we are going to stay well away from that one!!
I went fishing in the afternoon, with no success, not even a bite. We have 3 nights here and we are both looking forward to relaxing.
We are glad to hear that Dante and Tessa had another good day at basketball, and that Tessa had her first win and got a few goals. 🙂 Thanks for the update Von and the photos.
