Sunday 28 October 2012 Tuross Head

We had a slow easy day today, and expect the same tomorrow.  It was good to wake up to a calm day, the wind has been a fairly brisk southerly for the last few days.

After breakfast I took the kayak out for a spin and a bit of fishing on Tuross Lake, and left Deb back at the van reading.  It was lots of fun out on the lake and I have been very happy with the way the kayak performs, it tracks straight, is very stable and easy to paddle.  I decided before I went out that I would give “plastics” a go, so I left with no bait.  While I was out on the lake I looked over towards the van and saw Deb down on the beach, camera in hand taking a few photos.  I was so glad she was out and about taking some photos, she loves doing that, but doesn’t do it often enough!   After about an hour and a half I went back to the van, fishless (actually, biteless) but happy.  It was a great morning to be out on the lake and the scenery was fantastic, so peaceful.

After lunch, I tried a bit of fishing from the lake shore using pilchards, still no bites but very relaxing. We spent the rest of the afternoon reading.  Deb did a bit of homework on her camera, and how to get the best out of it.  I got a light toasting and am a bit pink on my front, oooops!  😛

We went to the Country Club for an early dinner, the food was Ok, if not a bit pricy for what you got. But we enjoyed the view down over Coila Lake and of to the Great Dividing Range.  Apparently in Winter it is possible to see snow in the ranges from here.  When we got back I went fishing down off the ocean beach. I caught a couple of Australian Salmon, about 35cm each, and after filleting them we have a nice bit of fish for tea tomorrow night.

And that brought a close to another hectic day of holidaying!

Mum heads off on her bus holiday to Melbourne and Adelaide (and many points in between) today, we hope she had a fabulous time.

We both hope Brian’s operation goes well tomorrow and that they fix his knee once and for all this time!!
