Everything is booked for our India adventure in October / November, just waiting for the paperwork to come through.
As usual for all our more exotic holidays, we booked into to see “The Travel Bug”, our travel doctor. We went and saw them the other day, both of us expecting to just have to get 1 or 2 booster shots. But how we were mistaken. We always take their advice and get what they suggest. I felt sorry for Deb as she finished up having to have needle vaccinations for Typhoid, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Whooping Cough and Rabies, and an oral Cholera Vaccine. I just needed the Typhoid and Cholera, with a blood test to check my Rabies immunity. 🙂
Deb has 2 more Rabies shots to have yet, and I might have one to get depending on my blood results. And we both have a full course of Malaria tablets for the trip.
The joys of 3rd world travel, but neither of us would chose not to go, and we like to have at least some hope of not catching anything really nasty while we are away, nothing spoils a holiday more than getting very sick while your travelling.
Our trip will take us through the states of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Kerala. And we travel between cities and sights by plane, train and automobile, so we should get a really great opportunity to see lots of what India has to show. From slums to shrines, farms, national parks and palaces, we are dipping our toes into this country and its people and culture and can’t wait to have our senses immersed in it all.
