We had a very slow start to our day, breakfast at 9:30am and pick-up by our guide at 11am.
We headed into the City Palace and got a Rickshaw for a ride around town, visiting several markets, they all seemed to be around the Johri Bizar. We walked and were driven around the flower markets, a couple of spice markets, jewelery markets, clothes markets and a string of other shop types. We had a great morning and early afternoon just watching the city come to life and the people doing what they do. Around 1, we stopped and had some samosa for lunch, they were delicious, so much better than at home. Words really don’t do this country justice, you don’t get the feel, the vibrance, the colour, the smells, the hussle and bustle, and chaos. India is just alive, and everyone seems happy to just get on with life, we have seen very little impatience or disputes in our travels so far. We didn’t mention it earlier, but we did see a couple of men almost come to blows in Delhi, it looked like a car had rammed a motor bike and the bike rider was a bit (very) upset.
It is the start of Diwali, an auspicious time for properity and wealth in the country, and the streets are being brightly decorated, there are fireworks being let off everywhere at night and there will be big parties at night in the streets all through town.
We have a special dinner tonight, just the two of us out in the rotunda with music and lights to accompany an Indian Banquet, it should be very special.
Tomorrow, we have a six hour car ride (330km) to Jodhpur.
Great photo’s loved them all
especially the one of the elephants
Ohhhh did you get photos of the flower markets?
Sounds like a fabulous day!
