Africa, Day 22, Diani Beach

Last full day in Africa and we slept better last night. ?  Today was pretty much the same as yesterday, except on our beach walk with Atheman we headed south this morning, was interesting and different.   The reef was out of the water, it looked beautiful.   There weren’t as many hawkers and we saw a guy who had caught an Octopus  I don’t think I have seen one freshly caught, up close.  Our walk was more leisurely this morning, we were gone about an hour.

After we got back we had a relaxing swim in the pool, then spent time organising our bags for our travel home.

Lunch was delicious, we will miss our butler Harrison when we get home.  These last few days he has started to have a laugh with us, has been fun.  He is working hard on our Swahili, but not having much luck.   We keep encouraging him to have a break, but he just lists the jobs he has to do.  It isn’t like we are the hardest people to look after.

At 4 pm we had our last massage, I have enjoyed them.  Regina & Anna come every day and just quietly do the massage and leave.  After the massage, we were sat up on our verandah and had a visit from a few monkeys, a velvet and a colobus monkey.  The colobus monkey came up over the balcony with some food in its mouth and ran right through our hut and out the back, it was moving quickly.

We had our last dinner and an early night.   We will be up at 6am in the morning and leave  around 7.30am.  (Around 2pm at home) It is a 90 minute drive to Mombasa airport and we have to catch a ferry too.   Evidently it is easy when the 4 Ferry’s work, but if 2 are down, slows you down.  We have 3 flights to get home, a 1 hour flight from Mombasa to Nairobi, with a 4 hour layover, then a 5 hr flight to Dubai (we pick up 1 hr here) with a 3 1/2 hour layover.  We leave Dubai at 2 am on a 12 1/2 hour flight direct to Adelaide.  We arrive back in the apartment around 9.30pm Sunday evening, 30 1/2 hours after we leave Alfijiri.  ?  Hopefully that will mean we will get back into good sleeping patterns quickly, well I can hope ?

We have today uploaded two other blogs prior to this one.   One on our highlights of the holiday and the other on our trip to the airport a week ago.

    Amazing African adventures!!

Don’t like the accident bit but glad you are both ok????

Combining fire.. smoke…. car crash and angry people in a foreign country all together is not great. ???

The beach walks and butler are much nicer. ❤️
Hope the flights are ok and you get a few hours sleep.

    Love you both xx
