Day 4, 23rd May 2019, Chelsea Flower Show, London

Woke at 3am, Greg 4.45am. Good job I had a nanna nap yesterday. ?

As we walked to the bus stop this morning, walking through the gorgeous streets of Mayfair, all I could think was, I am in London!  Was a wonderful moment.

We caught the 7.20am bus to the Chelsea flower show. Bus stop was only a 5 min walk away then  it was a 10 min bus ride.  We can use our credit cards on public transport and at the end of the day the system gives you the best price for the rides you took.  Thought it was better than paying £5 for an Oyster card each.

So many buses on the road and they come every 7 minutes  at this time of the day.

One thing I noticed fairly quickly when we arrived and that I found confusing initially,  people walk on the right and pass on the left.  The opposite of Australia.  Initially I had all of these people walking at me ?

I digress,  we drove through Sloan’s square, so many shops decorated with flowers. Looked pretty.

Bus was quicker than we thought, arrived at CFS at 7.35am, opens at 8am.

Met a lovely gentleman from Ottawa in the queue, to see Catherine’s woodland garden, he had been to the CFS, 5 times before.  There were about 60 people in the queue. An hour later there would have been over 400 people in the queue.  It was the only exhibit we saw that people had to queue for.

I was in my happy place wandering around looking at the gardens.  We found a lovely treed area with food trucks, Greg had coffee and we shared a cake.  Was good people watching.

Best food/wine truck I have ever seen

This is the best drink/food truck I have ever seen ?

Next we went to the exhibition hall, which was massive and saw the flower displays.  So many gorgeous flowers many I have not seen before, I was in my element with my camera and so many flowers.

We left after 11am, by then there were crowds of people, I was glad we arrived early, it was much more pleasant.   We walked 5 minutes to the Chelsea Physic Garden.   We enjoyed some lunch at the Tangerine Cafe in a gorgeous garden, then did the 12.30pm tour which was very interesting.  The garden was founded by the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London 1673 for apprentices to study the medicinal qualities of plants.

Afterwards we caught the bus back to the flat, was easy.   Only managed 10,000 steps today.

Tomorrow we are doing a walking tour of London and also going to see Hamilton in the evening.  The weather continues to be good, no rain forecast until next Tuesday.
