Did a bit of cleaning of the flat this morning, looked better afterwards. There are a few plants here that I have enjoyed looking after, they look much happier after 2 weeks of a bit of love! FaceTimed some family too, enjoyed chatting.
Sometime after 10am, we caught the bus to the other side of Westminster Bridge. Stood for a while and soaked up Westminster Palace (parliament house), it is my favourite view of London, across the Thames.
Then we headed along the Southbank Walk, an enjoyable walk with many buskers to entertain everyone. We were going to have lunch at Brick Lane Market, but it isn’t open on Sunday (oops! Doesn’t pay to assume), we found something nearby.
We also managed to have a look inside Southwark Cathedral, near London Bridge, a service had just finished so we were able to go in. It is the oldest gothic church in London, dating from around 1220, so pleased we could go inside. We lit a candle for you ❤️
On the return journey(guess it felt like a journey to me by then, my knee and feet ached!) we stopped in at The Tate Modern Art Gallery. We started on the 4th floor and worked our way down. Nothing really took our fancy, but we did appreciate being able to fill our drink bottle with cold water. ?
We got to Westminster Abbey around 2.30pm, there was already a queue at the west gate to be able to enter for evensong, didn’t take long to get in. I wanted to be able to sit in the Abbey and hear the choir and absorb the beautiful building, it is a work of Art. I have on a few occasions been moved by a church service I have attended, but writing this now, I realise that did not happen today. But I did appreciate the beautiful voices of the choir and the Abbey and I appreciated the opportunity to attend the service.
After the service we walked around the corner to catch the bus back to our flat, nice to be able to put my feet up.
One more week in London ?
