Day 26, 14th June 2019 Eastbourne UK

We headed a few km away to Beachy Head early this morning for a 10km round walk to see the White Cliffs and The Seven Sisters.

Was a lovely walk, if a bit windy!  we walked up hill and down dale.  You could walk right up to the edge of the cliffs to get a better look, I was grateful Greg mostly refrained.  We enjoyed the walk, took about 21/2hrs round trip, we spent about 20mins soaking up the great view over the Cliffs.  Well worth doing.  If you are not up to the walk you can drive to Birling Gap, it is a short walk to the viewing platform and you can see the view from there, or walk up a steep hill and see the view a bit higher up where we were.

the white cliffs and the seven sisters, the seven sisters start near the top of the photo to the right of Greg

(These are probably the cliffs you see in films as the ones at Dover are turning green, They are being protected from erosion, because of the tunnel and vegetation is growing on them so they are no longer eroding and keeping their white colour.)

On the way back from our walk, we went off the beaten track, ooops! We found ourselves in fields of wild daisies, was beautiful. I was in my element.

At the end of our walk we had lunch at the Beachy Head pub, looking over the area we had just walked.  A nice finish to the morning.

Before heading back to our accommodation we drove down to Sovereign Harbour to look at the boats, there were many, as well as lots of restaurants and new homes.  We needn’t of bothered, but we didn’t know that ??

We relaxed for a few hours, then headed out to the Italian Rostick Restaurant for dinner and then the Buddy Holly Tribute Show.

Dinner was delicious, I had Sole and Greg had a whole Bream.  The owner and the chef both came and chatted to us.  Was an enjoyable meal, lovely flavors.   When we finished we walked 5 minutes to the bandstand.  It is an open air venue with a bandstand (rotunda) right next to the beach.   The seats are deck chairs, very comfortable.  It was general admission, we managed to get some nice chairs with a good view under a verandah, which helped with the cold, was about 14C.   The band were good and a lot of fun, everyone was enjoying themselves, many got up and danced, we stayed in our seats and sang along ?It was a most enjoyable evening.

We have very much enjoyed our 3 nights in Eastbourne.

Chichester awaits tomorrow.
