Was hot overnight, but cool breezes were blowing this morning, was more pleasant. We enjoyed our breakfast at the table by the window with the beautiful view over the garden. I hadn’t walked through the garden yet, so spent some time there before we left. Was delightful. I must remember to walk in the gardens of Adelaide when we get home.
We headed off after 9am, drove to Gloucester to have a look at their Cathedral, seems every town has a magnificent one. The Cathedral is over 1,300 years old. It is located in a square, surrounded by beautiful old homes, was peaceful. We weren’t able to go inside as they were having an ordination ceremony. We were invited to have a look at the cloisters, so we did, we also got the tiniest of glimpses inside, looked magnificent.
Gloucester Cathedral was used in multiple scenes within the Harry Potter films. It’s home to the original door to the Gryffindor Common Room, as well as the corridor that spelled out the ominous words: “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened!
We arrived at Val & Vic’s just after 1pm. It was so nice to see them both, they haven’t changed a bit, we on the other hand are much greyer! ? It is Val’s birthday today, was lovely being able to celebrate with her. We went to their son Dave & Kim’s house for birthday celebrations. Was lovely to see their family again and meet a few others. Dave’s friend, Bill was there, visiting from Hallett Cove (small world), they have been friend’s since school. Bill moved to Australia in his early 20’s, 30 years ago. I have known of Bill for years, but have never met him, how funny meeting him today, half a world away from home!
Was a great afternoon catching up, yummy food, wine & sunshine. And the Poms won the cricket ?
We are looking forward to having a relaxing, slow week and spending time with Val & Vic.
