I have posted my Covid-19 Diary for January 2021, if you’re interested it can be found here.

But more on Covid-19 in a while.
Our 2021 started very well. We had a few days down in Victor Harbor with our 3 youngest South Australian grandchildren and Billie & Vince. We had a great time staying in an 1860’s beachside cottage, walking on the beach, playing pool, darts and Exploding Kittens. So many laughs.
On 15th of January we FINALLY got to go over to WA and see, meet and hold the latest addition to our family, Harry, our “new” grandson, born in September. But due to Covid-19 restrictions in Western Australia, we couldn’t get over to see him and his parents until then. We had the best time, Pat and Alyce were both very generous in the time they gave us with him (I am sure they both enjoyed a bit of me time as well). We were on Adelaide time all the time we were there, so the mornings seemed to go on forever, which suited us as we got to play with Harry from the time he got up. He is/was 4 months old and so aware. I could go on forever, but let’s just say our hearts were bursting. 😊 Sadly, we left Perth on the 20th. It was also the first time we had seen Pat and Alyce’s new home, it was very comfortable and had a great feel to it right down to their inviting pool.
I still haven’t had a haircut or beard trim since about this time last year, to say I have a wild look might be an understatement. Lol. My hair is the longest it has been since the mid 70’s and my beard at an all time record length.
We have been to a few cricket games at Adelaide Oval and the basketball has started up again, but so far we haven’t gone to see a game, TV viewing has been good enough.
The way things are shaping up for the year and beyond, I don’t think we will be travelling internationally for a few years yet. So we are looking to parts of South Australia we would like to visit.
Mum had her 90th birthday in early January, but due to Covid-19 restrictions we haven’t been able to go and visit her yet. Hopefully soon.
The USA elections had their final outcome resolved and Joe Biden was installed as the USA President, but only after a Trump induced raid by his supporters on the USA Capitol Buildings. It was called by some Trump’s last attempt to become a Dictator leader of the USA usurping all of their laws to his own end. A sad day for the world, but the rule of law won in the end.
We had sad news that the daughter and grandson of a friend of ours in Minnesota USA had contracted Covid-19. It appears that the grandson got it from a carer and shared it with his mum. Thankfully, both seem to be doing well.
Speaking of Covid-19, the chart below sums up the year that was and how things may progress this year. Its all very hard to predict with new more virulent strains of the Coronavirus emerging.
The new infection rate of the Coronavirus seems to have peaked in mid December 2020. The rate stabilised, albeit with a few dramatic spikes, through to the early/mid part of January 2021. There is a developing trend to suggest that the rate of new infections may be entering a declining phase. If the trend in the decline breaks the resistance level of 480,000 new cases we could see the number of new daily infections test the next major resistance level at 200,000 new daily cases.
Well that’s about me for now, stay safe everyone.
