April 2021 A Trip to Sydney, a bit of culture in Adelaide and Covid-19

We had an enjoyable month with lots of different things going on.

We went to Sydney to visit mum for a belated 90th celebration with her. We took her to visit her twin, Carmel, and had a good time catching up with family.

While we were at mum’s, Pat Alyce and Harry stayed over for a couple of nights. Pat starts a new job as the GIS guy at a local council in Perth the following week. Harry was great, he is growing up so quickly. While Pat and his family were there we stayed at Craig and Cooks place. I was good to spend a bit of time with my “little bro”.

In the middle of the month we had a morning tea at the Migration museum with Brian and Eileen to celebrate the laying of their “Brick” in the courtyard. They were happy with what Deb had done.

We took Ella to see the Clarice Beckett exhibition at the SA Art Gallery and then had lunch at the gallery with her.

We treated ourselves to a couple of nights at the newest 6* hotel in Adelaide, The EOS for our 18th wedding anniversary. The hotel was very good, big standard rooms and the views to the north were amazing. The only letdown was the restaurant, but such is life.

Sophia has a school production of the stage musical The Adams Family at the Hopgood Theatre. It was a great school production, her cousin Darcy played the lead role of Gomez Adams.

We finished the month with a walk through the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens, taking in all the autumn colours.

Oh, I forgot to mention, we are getting a new member of the family, a puppy. We have decided since overseas travel is not on the horizon for years to come that we would get a puppy. Deb found a King Charles Spaniel breeder in Two Wells north of Adelaide who had a puppy for us. We have already named him Louis and pick him up in late May. Deb is so excited.

Unfortunately, the global situation of Covid-19 seems to be going from bad to worse. Continued outbreaks as restrictions get eased and India is out of control. On a bright note, Australia has finally began immunisation against the disease. Under 50’s will be getting the Pfizer Vaccine while over 50’s will get the AstraZeneca Vaccine. There is a blood clotting issue in under 50’s with the AstraZeneca Vaccine and hence the difference in what you get.

The chart bellow tells the tale of where the world is at, it’s a horror story!
