July saw another wave of Covid-19 around the globe. The world recorded almost 30 million new cases of Covid-19 with almost 61 thousand deaths attributed to it.
Australia recorded almost 1.25 million new cases of Covid-19 with almost 2 thousand deaths attributed to it. One of the highest death rates per head of population in the world!
The Russian invasion of Ukraine continued unabated, causing a global energy and food crisis which has seen inflation soar around the world. There is no sign that Russia will withdraw.

From my data, during the month of July Australia experienced:
A rise in hospitalisation and death rate due to Covid-19, the rate of hospitalisation declined in the last week of the month
The percentage of people entering hospital that require ICU treatment is stabilising around 3%
The death rate as a result of Covid-19 continues to rise. Hard to believe we were once the envy of the world on this score.
The virus reproduction rate continues to increase to be just above 1

On the bright side, we got to go away down to Mount Gambier for a week, even if the reason for us going (Granddaughter in a dance competition) didn’t materialise as she got Covid the day they were due to leave for Mount Gambier. We had an enjoyable time regardless, just a different time than we expected.
