It’s a travel day, we have our room until midday but don’t get picked up until 5pm for our ferry to Milos.
So we have planned a quiet morning at our hotel, then pack, check out (leave our bags there) and then around lunch head down to the village area to soak up the last bit of Naxos before we leave.
My heart sank trying to get cash out of an atm. Put my card in then a notice came on the screen saying “Out of order”, and my card was eaten! Luckily, there was a tech behind the machine servicing it (why he didn’t have a sign on the machine I don’t know), he got my card out, checked with the bank it hadn’t been stopped and then gave it back to me. I found another atm and it worked fine, my lucky day!
After an afternoon in the village we were ready to leave. Our ride arrived around 5pm and we were at the port ready to board. The ferries have such a quick turn around, as passengers and cars are unloading passengers, followed by cars board and the ferry leaves before the doors are closed.
Unfortunately, our ferry was running 40 minutes late, so we had a long wait at the port.
The Blue Star Ferry that left before ours had a turn around of a bit over 15 minutes. A stream of people and vehicles unloaded then Hundreds of passengers, a dozen or so semi trailers, lots of car and small trucks loaded!
Our ferry arrived almost 50 minutes late. The turn around was more relaxed than the big ferry. Did I mention that this ferry was less than a quarter the size of the ferry we got to Naxos. The seas were very calm and it was an easy ride through to Milos, with stops at Paros (@7:40) and Sifnos(@8:40).
Paros looked like a quiet island, with a small village at the port and then there were houses spread wide apart.
Sifnos was smaller again, a small village barely 6 rows of houses deep and spread widely along the shoreline.
A funny thing, Deb was queried by a crew member as to why we had 2 tickets each for this ferry, she explained we lost the first tickets, and he said we should get credit and go for a ride somewhere else! We think not!!
The ferry got to Milos around 9:35pm, it took short while to get off, but we found our ride very easily and were on our way to our hotel Milos Breeze in no time.
We arrived and settled in to our hotel around 10:00pm. We will sleep well tonight.
