We were on the “Train” bus
to the Western end of the Upper Lakes and the start of our walk at 8:15am. We had an early start to try and beat the crowds. It mostly worked. It was a 4km walk of the Upper Lakes, all downhill, and my woman was happy.
We walked past many Jezeros (Lakes) and Slaps (Waterfalls).
The Jezeros we walked along were in order;
Proscoansko. 38m deep 68ha and 637m elevation
Veliko. 8m deep. 2ha and 607m elevation
Batinovac. 5m deep. 1ha and 608m elevation
Galovac. 24m deep. 12ha and 585m elevation
Milino. 2m deep. 0.2ha and 567m elevation
Gradinsko. 10m deep. 8ha and 554m elevation
Burget. 10m deep. 1ha and 553m elevation
and waterfalls for which I saw names;
Veliki Prstavac Slap 28m fall
Mali Prstavac Slap. 18m fall
Galovacki Buk Slap. 16m fall
The lakes and all the waterfalls, big and small – named and unnamed, were all
amazing in there own unique ways. Because we left early there were not many people, just us with the sounds of the water, the birds and the ever changing view.
We got to the end of the track and arrived at the same spot as we did yesterday to get the little ferry across the lake. Once on the other side, we bought a cheese roll that we shared in a quiet place and relaxed a bit.
TThen we headed back up the hill to where we had been dropped off earlier, and called our cab driver.
We were back at our hotel in no time, and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.
We leave the Lakes tomorrow and head to Opatija (or that “O” town as we have been calling it 🙂 ).
