Yup, you guessed it, another lazy morning.
We really didn’t do anything much other than finish packing and laze around.
The porter came by at about 11:10am, picked up our bags and us and drove us to reception. We picked our forgotten hats off the hat hooks as we left our room. He asked if we were going to the airport, we said no, going on a cruise. He asked if we would like a lift to the Cruise start hotel, we gladly said yes, another “job” taken care of. He said, there were about 15 of us. We leave from here at 2:30pm, so a bit over a 3hr wait.
While we waited Deb asked if I got her phone charger from her bedside table, no, I hadn’t, I saw reception they got onto housekeeping and the charger and lead were with us again inside 10 mins. Lucky! We had also left the hats on the hat rack but Deb noticed them on the way out!
We had lunch at the poolside Thai restaurant, we tag teamed a Thai Chicken Salad, one ate while the other saved our seats in reception. The salad was delicious with a nice fresh chilli zing. 2 hrs to go but who was counting!?
We met another couple on our cruise, Walter and Martha, a nice couple from the Gold Coast. We chatted for a while with them and then it was time to board the bus to the Mangrove Hotel, the cruise meeting location. We arrived there around 3pm and then once everyone was there we boarded a couple of buses and headed out to the boat.
On the way out to the boat on the jetty we slowed down and passed by an Osprey nest, with the mother sitting over two chicks, that hatched yesterday crazy place to nest, next to a guard rail!
We boarded the ship, they did a head count and the mandatory safety briefing. The boat runs on Darwin time, so we all set our devices (and watches, etc) ahead 1.5 hours to Adelaide time (which is the same!). There are only 76 passengers on board, the boat holds 120.
Dinner was a bit after 7pm. We sat with Colin and Carol, a couple from Perth. The meal was delicious, mixed seafood entre, followed by snapper with a curried sauce and greens and a tropical fruit mojito tart for desert.
We retired to our cabin around 9pm, finiashed sorting things and then called it a night.
We have a 7:15am breakfast before a day exploring the Lacepede Islands at around 9:30am.
In the afternoon we have our first lecture on the Kimberley and the first round of boat tours.
