Our final Day on-board
We woke around 6:30am and saw land!!!……um, Darwin!
We finished our last bit of packing, put our bags out for collection and went down to our last meal on-board the Geographer at around 7am.
A couple from South Africa joined us for breakfast, it was really interesting conversation.
We were back in our cabin a bit before 8am and waited for our call to disembark. That was scheduled for 8:30am but was more like 9:15am in the end. Most of the crew we interacted with were down by the coaches that were dropping the passengers off at various hotels and the airport. We managed between us to say bye to most of them. It was good to sign off properly.
Darwin Day 1
We got on to the coach and we were part of the first group off at the Vibe Waterfront Hotel.
We checked-in, but our room wasn’t normally available until 3pm. So we left our luggage with them and went for a walk into Darwin City. There is a Sky Bridge that connects our hotel to the city, saves walking up a “steep” hill.
We walked down the mall, and eventually to the foreshore, seeking out shade whenever we could, it’s reasonably warm. We picked up a few bits and pieces, played some Ingress and were back by our hotel around noon.
While we were out Deb received a couple of calls from a local number, but because she didn’t recognise it she didn’t answer. We eventually realised it was the hotel, our room had been available for us from about 11.00am!!
We spent the afternoon “relaxing” and doing our washing, so we can start in Bali with cases full of fresh clothes.
We had a cheese platter for dinner, very relaxing.
Darwin Day 2
We had breakfast outside at the hotel and had our room made up while we were out.
We had a quiet day, both of us taking it easy. We did our ironing and final things for Bali and final packing.
We Ieft the hotel around 9:30pm and headed to the airport, for bag drop, security and emigration. All done with no fuss.
Our flight left 17 minutes ahead of schedule, and we landed in Denpasar at around 1:15am local time.
