Portugal, Spain and Dubai Day 1 Porto to Madrid Spain. 24 Sept 25

It’s time to go to Spain. We were up at 4, ready for our 5am airport transfer at 4:50am.
We were at the airport by 5:10, but our check in counters didn’t open until 6:10! Our hour long flight took off at 8:30 and we were at our hotel in Madrid around11:30am (Madrid time), so a bit over 5hrs from hotel to hotel in different countries!
We were very grateful that our room was ready on our arrival, and we made the most of it with a few hours of relax time.
Later in the afternoon we had a walk around our new neighbourhood. There are so many magnificent buildings on narrow cobblestone streets. We are very close to the theatre, fabric and craft areas of town. With a few very impressive theatres and churches in the area.
We had dinner in Plaza de Santa Ana area serviced by about 3 or 4 different restaurants. We both had paella, Deb seafood and mine mixed. Both were delicious. I had a glass of Victoria beer with dinner and Deb had a Verdejo a dry white wine. My beer was the best I’ve had yet on the holiday.
We went for a short walk after dinner, looking around and playing a bit of Ingress, a fun way to finish our 1st day in Spain.
