Day 21. 28 February 2026. Maldives Six Senses Laamu to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Woohoo, we managed breakfast this morning, none of this brunch in disguise, 8:30am counts as breakfast. 🙂

After breakfast we checked out, got a boat to the float plane pontoon at around 9:40 and flew to Male for our connection to KL. Our sea plane / float plane flight took at about an hour. There were 12 passengers on board, a full flight. The inflight service consisted of ear plugs, a cold towel and a bottle of water. Not bad for a 15 seat float plane and short flight
We arrived in Male at about 9:45am (the resort was on Bangladesh time, Male + 1hr, so times can get confusing in transit).
We got a bus from the aqua terminal around to the international terminal and had checked in, dropped our bags off, through emigration and in the lounge by 10:40am
We boarded our flight to KL at 12:05 after waiting on the bus for 15 mins. The delay was waiting for the cleaners to finish prepping the plane Our flight was scheduled to take0 off at midday, but that was never going to happen. We pushed out at 12:20pm and we’re in the air by about 12:30pm. Our flight was a bit over 4 hours.
It was a bumpy ride for the first 3hrs. A pretty ordinary flight, except for the very last part when we had a lightening show out of Deb’s window.

We landed in KL at about 8:00pm local time. We got through customs and immigration and waited for our bags, unbeknown to us, our bags are booked all the way through to Langkawi, we weren’t counting on that. So we stood waiting for our bags at the carousel for quite some before I asked someone, and they pointed out what had happened.

So next we tried to find the shuttle carts to our hotel, our first problem was that we were on level 5, I assumed we were on level 3, we were looking for level 2, any way, long story short, we walked to the hotel.
We were checked in and in our room by about 9:30pm! Deb’s requested view of the runways turned out to be very tangential!

Our flight tomorrow departs at 8:55am, they want you at the airport 2 hours ahead of departure time, Deb tried negotiating with the hotel guy that we didn’t need to be there that early, he was confused. It will be interesting in the morning.
#retiredlyf done our way.
