Day 22. 1 March 2026. Malaysia Kuala Lumpur to The Datai, Langkawi.

Well that was an “interesting” night, not!
We finished up changing rooms at about 12:30am because the hotel decided to have maintenance works done at night, and it was too noisy for sleep!
Our/Deb’s alarm went off at 6am and had checked out and were in the hotel lounge by 6:20 for a light breakfast.
From there we went down to the lobby and got a cart to the airport, so much quicker than walking, I think our driver was practicing for the Malaysian GP.
Without baggage it was a simple process, go through security and head to the lounge. We checked to make sure our luggage would be travelling with us, and all was good.
We played a bit of Ingress on the way to our gate, caused a little havoc in game, and were seated on board by 8:35am.
We are heading into the jungle!
Jenni!!!.. “Tarzan” and Jane bottles might be more appropriate. 
Our flight left at 9:05am and we landed at 9:50am. We collected our luggage, yes it came with us, and left for The Datai at 10:10am. Along the way we saw the usual riad warning signs, you know them, look out for cows, monkeys, wild boar and monitor lizards On the road!
We arrived at 10:40, and checked in. Our room wasn’t ready, check-in time is usually 3pm, so we (Deb) organised all the things we are going to be doing while we are here, dinners, tours, etc. Deb is so well organised with all that, very good notes so little escapes.
To our great pleasure our villa was ready for us at about midday. We were so happy. Our villa is very comfortable, it was great to be able to fully unpack. The first time that has been possible on our holiday.
Once we had properly settled in and taken a breath, we called a cart (The Datai is set on the side of a hill over a very large property, so carts are the most efficient way to get around) headed down to the beach and get a late lunch. We had some satay and tempeh, and a G&T each, overlooking the beach and beautiful bay. It was a very tasty relaxing lunch. When we finished we took a walk along the beach. The sea water was about 28C, not really what you would call refreshing. As we moved away from where people were frequenting the crabs took over the tidal area of the beach in their 100s. It was fun watching them.
We finished our day and were back in our villa by about 6:30. Its been a busy couple of days, travel days are always a bit of a grind. So it was great to have an easy afternoon and evening.

Enough about us, we both hope all the craziness going on in the world sorts itself out soon and the innocent stay safe.

#retiredlyf done our way.
