Day 29 & 30 8 & 9 March 26 The Datai, Langkawi, Malaysia to Home, Adelaide , Australia
We got up to breakfast a bit after 9am, yes breakfast, not brunch, this holiday is coming to an end. We got a table outside for breakfast, not the VIP front row, but a nice table none the less. Our view to Thailand was down to just the front mountains on the island. The others were hidden behind a layer of cloud/steamy fog.
We were back in our villa at about 10:30 to finish packing and to get ready for our trip home.
By 11:30 we were 99% packed. So I took time to sit on our back verandah and soak up the sights and sounds of our little bit of the jungle. It’s been great to have been in the jungle, it was around 3 sides of our villa and it felt immersive. Even from inside, being able to lookout into the lush foliage was so calming. I think we will both miss that, and the sounds of all the hidden creatures that are living just out there! I did see a beautiful smallish blackbird with a long fanned tail, I hadn’t seen the bird before. Nice to still have firsts on the way out! No monkey visitors to say good bye to, they move to their own beat. I wrote too soon, not long before we left the villa a small monkey came down from somewhere and just looked at us, a nice goodbye. We were picked up to go to reception and checked out waiting for our airport transfer by 12:15pm.
We were picked up by our airport transfer at about 12:30 and at the airport, checked in ,(luggage going all the way home) and in the lounge by 1:15pm.
We boarded at 2:300m and were KL bound by 2:45. We landed in KLIA, through immigration and in the lounge around 3:55pm. There just may have been a little Ingress played between landing and making our way to the lounge.
While I’m talking Ingress, we both managed to complete our Ingress Second Sunday requirements at Langkawi Airport. :-). If you’re interested in what Ingress is, have a look here, www.Ingress.com. If you decide to give the game a try, and we recommend it, sign up for the Enlightenment team, the Green team. It’s lots of fun and I’m happy to help you along the way.
We got to the lounge around4:30pm and settled in for a 5 hour + wait. The lounge was reasonably comfortable. What is it about some people who think the world wants to listen in on what ever it is they having playing on the device, ear buds / headphones were invented so the rest of the world didn’t have to share yours!!!
We went to the gate a little after 10pm, they said it was boarding, they lied!! We arrived at the gate at about 9:45pm, we boarded at about 10:15! It was a full cabin, with a couple of “Bali bogans” onboard! (It’s never good when someone thinks its funny to get on a go “Aussie Aussie, Aussie”, might be ok at the cricket, but ….. (Am I getting old?) But they settled fairly quickly.
We were in the air at 10:55, running 25mins late, the flight was a bit bumpy for the first couple of hours and then settled, for most of the flight, we flew through a few bumpy areas over northern Australia. We both got a little sleep during the fl8ght, I think we will both sleep well tonight in our ownbed.
We landed at 8:15, a little ahead of the revised time. We got a little bit of duty free and then were through immigration in no time. We had a few items to declare, but as it turned out, a customs officer was answering questions around the luggage carousel. We spoke to her about the things we were declaring and she said it was all fine, and then scanned our declarations and passports. When we got to Customs we were waved through, very easy.
We got home around 9:30am. It was so good to be home. We picked Louis up at 12 noon and were all back at home together at around 1pm.
And that my dear readers is the end of this holiday. Please rest assured there is a lot more to come. 
#retiredlyf done our way.
