Number of Views :1071Woke a bit early, about 4.30am (it was 6am at home). We were down at breakfast at 7am, there was so much variety. Greg had a Chinese breakfast. Congee, dumplings, noodles, fried rice, veggie steamed roll and a baked bun. I had cereal. Was all very nice.
Number of Views :1124Deb slept well last night, me not so much. I detest alarm clocks, I just dont trust them. We were up at 4am showered, finished packing and were in an Uber by 4.25am. It took a bit over 15mins. We were out at the airport, checked in all the way to Shanghai, through security, of course I got bomb tested, again!, and we were standing out in front of the Qantas Club waiting for it to open at 4:50am.

Had a great day today, my birthday. Usually feels strange not being at home on my birthday, but not this year. Had fun with Greg and Karlien and enjoyed all of my birthday cards Greg brought with him and messages from home and overseas, oh yes and Haighs truffles before breakfast.
Number of Views :1162We caught the 2pm flight to Perth a 31/2hr flight. Karlien flew from Sydney, 5hr flight, her plane landing 10 minutes after ours. We met at the luggage carousel, then collected our car – a hybrid, that is a first for us, took about 40 minutes to get to our Airbnb at Watermans Bay (28 km) in peak hour traffic.

We had set our alarms, yes both of us set one, for 5:50, with the aim of being checked out by 6:20 and checked-in by 6:45.

Our day started very slowly and easily. There was lots of rain and wind overnight and it was pouring in Whitianga all morning until around 11:30am.
Our hosts at Woodyhanger Lodge, Warren and Carol, cooked us up some bacon and eggs for our last breakfast. It was very nice and very welcomed. Continue reading
