6 March 2013 Queenstown NZ

We had a quiet day today. It was good to take things a little easier.

After a very lazy morning we headed into town on the 11am shuttle bus. We did a little shopping. tried to sort out our wifi modem issues (No success there!??) and got John and Georgie booked into a Dinner and Hakka show at the restaurant at the top of the Queenstown Gondola.
For lunch we went to Winnies, a very atmospheric Pizza Restuarant upstairs over looking the Queenstown Mall. We got an outside table, undercover to avoid the light drizzle, and had gourmet pizza and wine for lunch. Very tasty, thanks Jeff for the recommendation.
After lunch we headed back to the hotel and grabbed the car , and I took John and Georgie out for a drive through Arrowtown (an old well preserved gold mining village) and then onto the place where it all started for AJ Hackett 25 years ago, the Kawarau Bridge Bungy, where for $180NZ you can jump off a perfectly good restored bridge. We didn’t partake ourselves but did see 1 guy take the plunge. For some reason there weren’t queues of people lining up to jump!
On the way back into town we saw a group of about 12 people wetsuiting up to take a plunge into a local river to go white water inner-tube riding.

It was a fun relaxing day. We are eating in tonight and hoping J & G have had a great time up the mountain.
We head to Fox Glacier tomorrow and have been told of a shortcut to take by a local, should cut 3/4 hr off the trip, the Cardrona Skifield Road to Wanaka. Lots of switch backs on the first part, so should be fun.
