Carnival Spirit Our Pacific Cruise Monday 8 July 2013 At Sea

Monday 8 July 2013  At Sea (still)
We had a time zone change last night and the breakfast / lunch arrangements for today is a very long Brunch. We are way out to sea now, my phone GPS gives us at S026 deg 21.3 mins  E161 deg 30.3 mins as I write this bit before we head out. Ben was talking of having Fillet Mignon and eggs to start the day. We will see.
The fillet was popular amongst our group :-), it was a small serve of steak, but very tasty by all accounts. For some reason all the service staff seemed grumpy this morning, I hope they get over it, the service has been very good, they are delightful with the children.
We made a quick pass via the bridge room after breakfast and there wasn’t much happening so I guess that’s it for the cruise. 🙂
We are having a quiet morning, booked dinner in the Nouveau Restaurant for Wed night, got the safe fixed and relaxed.
Tonight is elegant night and we are all looking forward to dressing up!

These are my thoughts on the ship so far. First of all it is huge. Everything on board is done in a big way. The dining room is on 2 floors and it seats over a thousand people a sitting, the service is like army clock-work, but they manage to cope with unusual requests seamlessly, well maybe sometimes with a raised eyebrow and a smile. The decor is 1970’s gaudy Los Vegas (in an asian sort of way). There is nothing sleak or stylish about it. The main entertainment areas, theatres and kids club are all at the front of the ship, the main dining room is at the aft end, and the Nouveau Restaurant is up the top.  The Lido deck  (the top deck) has round the clock serve yourself food stalls, pools and activities. It’s pretty well chaos up there all daya (900 children on board- but you wouldn’t know it other than on deck 9). Down on Deck 2 is the Casino, on Deck 3 are the shops and there are bars everywhere. After you get over the size of the ship the next thing we noticed was the constant vibration that seemed to humm through the ship 24/7, we guess it’s from the propellers. And the gentle but constant roll from side to side, the ship is so long (nearly 3 football fields) that it doesn’t seem to have any forward to aft movement.
We had a quiet afternoon, the kids were a bt busier, all the little ones went to kids club and made their own teddies, while Ben and Dante gave the waterslide a bit of a run. Ben tested it so well he nearly jammed it!!  LOL. Dante and Tessa have got the hang of the ship better than the rest of us I think, if we can’t find anything they generally know where to go. They have been off exploring the ship by themselves from the start. Ella and Ethan are starting to explore the boat a bit by themselves, so far they have made 2 trips from their cabin at the front of the boat to ours at the very back. They are keeping in contact with Carly via ‘Walky Talky’, but that only covers half the length of the boat. They are feeling very grown up.  🙂
Ooops, a bit of a late rush (an hour after close time) to hire our snorkling gear, after going from top to bottom of the ship I found that we weren’t the only ones to forget, so all sorted and ready to dive!
It’s Cruise Elegant Night and Captain’s Celebrations, so we are all getting dressed up for the occasion. Dancing and pre-dinner cocktails with the Captain, and then piano bar after dinner. Then Deb and I are baby sitting while Ben, Sarah, Kieran and Carly have a night out.
Predinner cocktails turned into a photo session and drinks. Hopefully there are a few good pics.
Dinner was good, again. Our server, Ronald, is very good with the children, doing magic tricks and games with them, Carly has started making origami swans for him and his off-sider, a nice touch.
Deb and I got down to baby-sitting around 7:30. E and E were both
