Australia  The East Bit   Day 30  Clairview  Qld  4 Aug 2016

We started the day slowly, again. We had thought about getting up to watch the sun-rise, but when it came to it, we sort of passed (Deb did poke her head outside the van for a quick glimpse) as it was a bit cool out there this morning, 10C.

I headed down to the beach at around 8am to do a bit of fishing, only to find the tide was out. Out about 500m+.

They have huge tides here, it is about a 3.5m difference between high and low at the moment, but can and does exceed 4m at times. So I decided to give the fishing a miss until the water returned, hopefully bearing fish.

We took a drive around 10am down the road a bit to get fuel for tomorrow and to take out a “nasty” blue ingress field.

We have been asked “What is Ingress”, well the short answer is that it is an augmented reality game (by the same people that bring you PoGo, actually PoGo uses a lot of the game infrastructure that was developed for Ingress.)  Have a look here for more on Ingress https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ingress_(video_game)    If you decide to try it join the Enlightened Faction, it’s good to be green J

When we got back, I checked and the water was back!! So I got my fishing gear together and headed down to the beach. After about 2 hours I headed back to the van, a 30cm whiting all cleaned and ready to cook for lunch. I caught the keeper first and then it was followed by a few under size fish, it was a bit of fun and very relaxing. While I was fishing, Deb had spent the time relaxing, reading a new book and then catching a few zzzzzzz’s.

We pan fried the fish for lunch and finished off with some cheese and biscuits. Yum.

In the afternoon I spent some time trying to get our rear view camera working, but no luck. I put it all back together and hope it might work when we hook everything up in the morning.

Late in the afternoon I decided to try doing a Geocache, after John mentioned it in a comment to our blog (You are all more than welcome to leave comments, we love getting feedback from you). The cache was only 108m from our van so off we went. But it wasn’t long before we bid a hasty retreat, the cache was hidden in some bush that was infested with 100’s, nay 1000’s of huge mosquitoes!!! And to make it worse they stuck with us for probably 15 mins!!

Tomorrow we head into Rockhampton for a one night stay, its only 200km from here so we should have some time to look around a bit.
