Australia  The East Bit Day 38  Noosa  Qld      12 Aug 2016

I started the day with a bit of a startle, I woke and misread the clock as 8:45, instead of 6:45. I had a breakfast meet up with Tony Roxburgh, and thought I had missed it!!

I left Deb at the van watching the Australian womens basketball team playing Japan in the Olympics. We won, after being 16 points down in the 4th quarter J

Tony had a site visit for work in Noosa so it was a great chance to catch up. We had breakfast at a café across the road from the Surf Club, the food and coffee were all good.   It was good to be able to spend a bit of time with Tony, just catching up on things. I have now seen him more this year than in the last 5 or so. (We saw each other over on Norfolk Island earlier in the year). We have another catch up when we get down to Maroochydore.  Tony eventually had to go to work and I headed back to the van park and Deb.

We eventually got away from the van and headed to Gympie Tce, to check out the shops and the views of the river, then we went to Sunshine Beach Surf Club for lunch. When we got there, there were lots of people out on the deck looking for/at whales that were way out to sea. It seems whale spotting is a big thing around these parts.

We got a table out on the deck, it was a bit windy and chilly, but we stuck it out. Overall the food was a bit disappointing compared to the Noosa Surf Club, but the view and company made up for it. 🙂

Sunshine Beach from the Surf Club, can you spot the whales? Neither could we. :)

After lunch we, headed back to the van after doing a bit of shopping. We had a quiet afternoon and Deb got a few zzzzz’s.

We left again around 4:30pm and went up to the Tinbeerwah Lookout for sunset. The lookout is at the top of a hill and gives spectacular 360deg sights over the Noosa district. Deb had packed some chips, cider and beer for the lookout. We cracked  the drinks and snacked on the chips as the sun started to set. You can see from the coast to the far westerly mountains, and all the plains in between. I didn’t realise there were so many largish bodies of water to the west of Noosa. The sunset was beautiful, as the mountains in the west were silhouetted by the dark rose coloured skies. A pretty good way to finish our day.   🙂
