We got away from the CP around 8’ish, heading to the “famous” Eumundi Markets. Along with the Mindil Markets in Darwin, Paddy’s Markets in Sydney and the Queen St markets in Melbourne they have an aura about them that leads to a great expectation.
Well, Eumundi won’t let you down. They are one of the liveliest markets we have been to in quite some time. So many stalls, yes you see the predictable craft, hand-knit and cake stalls, but you just have to have them, it wouldn’t be a market without them. Deb had her “Wooden Chopping Board” fetish catered for with 3 different stalls. J There were buskers at almost every turn, and thankfully most were very good, the variety of food available was also great, we tried a mixed plate of steamed and fried Tibetan Momo’s. They were very good, reminding Deb of Chiko Rolls and me of Dim Sims. We were sitting eating them in a park a bit away from the crowds when 2 women sat next to us with a plate of mini pancakes, strawberries and cream. It looked very good and by their reactions it tasted better!
Before we left we picked up a Ginger and Walnut cake (delicious) and a bag of lemons and another of limes.
We had a quiet afternoon, we watched a bit of the Olympics action, sorry to see the women’s soccer team lose on a penalty shoot-out.
A wood fired pizza oven has been cranked up in the caravan park, so that has become our dinner for tonight.
We head off to Maroochydore tomorrow.
