Day 10, 29th May 2019, a day of culture, Natural History Museum, V & A and Royal Albert Hall.

Was another enjoyable day today, headed out around 9.30am, walked through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens to The Natural History Museum (no catching the wrong bus for us today ? in fact I don’t think we took a wrong turn, things are looking up! ?)

I bought tickets this morning to the Photographic exhibition they have at the moment on Wildlife, there were more than 45,000 entries from 95 countries, the exhibition showed the top 100 entries. We loved the photos and the description of each one. There were also some entries from children aged 10+ that were impressive too.

By the time we had finished the exhibit we headed out into the rest of the museum, there were way to many people around (it is school holidays this week), so we headed over the road to the V & A Museum. I have been following them on Instagram for the last year and was excited to go. We headed to the cafe for some lunch before the free introductory tour we were taking at 12.30pm.

A woman about our age took the one hour tour, she was very interesting and bought everything to life. I think we went to 6 or 7 different areas, I particularly enjoyed the Rodin sculptures, we have seen a bit of his work over the years, was good learning more about him. Our guide gave us a really good taste of the museum. I think you could easily spend several weeks in here. Especially with her as your guide. We decided to leave after the tour as it was also very busy, must come earlier next time. There is another tour in the museum that we are interested in doing if we have time before we leave.

Next it was off to the Royal Albert Hall, we had tickets to hear the London Philharmonic Orchestra, they were playing ABBA music and of course there were singers. It would not have been our choice, but there was not much to choose from while we were here. That said I did know every word of their early 70’s songs, not their later work. And I did sing along for you Von ? The Orchestra were fabulous and played 4 pieces on their own which I loved. Anyhow the Hall is magnificent, it was a joy for me to be inside, listening to the music ? we also had some great seats, in a box of 12 seats on the first level. Was a nice surprise as I thought we were up much higher.

It had started drizzling before we went into the hall, and was still drizzling ever so slightly when we came out. We had our coats on (only 15C today) and walked the 30 minutes home through Kensington Gardens, with no wrong turns! ?

Off to Greenwich tomorrow.
