Left the hotel at 9:50 and were at the train station at 10:00. We had to wait to find out what platform we were leaving from before we could go through security ,(a bit like airport style but very loose) and check in.
Well we did that, found our platform and on the train in our seats by 10:50. It took about 10 mins to complete all that, not quite the “sh!t fest” we were expecting.
The train left at 11:00, it is an AVE High Speed Train capable of speeds up to 300kph,
but averages a bit over 120kph, and guess what, no seat belts! One of my GPS apps clocked us at over 278kph
In the countryside on our way to Seville there were lots of olive trees and quite a few large solar energy farms. I’m not sure why, but my ears popped several times on the journey, something to do with the speed I guess.
We arrived in Seville at about 1:30, we were picked up and at our hotel by 1:40.
We relaxed in our room for a bit.
Deb deep dived into reviews for our Flamenco show tonight, some how she eventually had us in an old shed that was/is used for graphite production sitting on bench seats (or the floor) being fed food on paper towels/plates served from a dodgy kitchen by an equally unsavoury woman and watching “Flamenco” of dubious standard performed on a small wooden stage. Reviews of the dancing included a single male trying to tap-dance totally our of sync with the music to not being able to hear the music over very loud cheering from tourists, etc. Everything was cash, drinks, food, etc, but thats not the place we were going to! Might have to try it tomorrow night for a bit of amusement.
Our Flamenco show was excellent, maybe not quite what we were expecting but very entertaining. The show consisted of a guy playing Spanish guitar, with two other guys singing, they were the backing “band” for the dancers. They provided the musical background for the dancers. There were 2 female and 2 male dancers. The dancers all performed individually and as couples. It was high energy and really entertaining.
The show finished around 8pm, we left the venue and walked back to our hotel, The long way.
We took a detour via the river, and discovered the Seville Bull Ring, and some sort of festival on the riverbank area with people dressed up in olden costumes.
Deb got a few good sunset photos as well.
When we eventually turned towards our hotel we walked through many streets of downtown Seville, there were so many people out on the streets, in restaurants, bars and shops. The city was really alive.
And that was the end of our day.
