Day 32 New Orleans Friday 17 April 2015 USA Day 4

Well that was a fun night, not! I think I got a bad mussel, but better out than in I guess, and all good  when I woke this morning. So it was a late start to our day.

We took a walk down Canal St and then hung a right into Camp St and into the Warehouse/Arts District. Continue reading

Day 31 New Orleans USA Day 3

We had a MUCH slower start to today. John and Georgie came to our room and we sat in the lounge for quite a while deciding what we were going to do today. Eventually we had a plan. Get a Street Car to the Garden District and have a walk around. Continue reading

Day 30 New Orleans 15 April 2015 USA Day 2

We started the day with a bus tour of “Nawlins”. The tour went for about 2 ½ hrs and gave a great overview of New Orleans as it is today and how it got to be this way. It has a fascinating history that involves the British, the French, the Spanish, the Confederates, Slavery, Yankees, Katrina, food and Jazz. Continue reading

Day 27 Puebla to Oaxaca Sunday 12 April 2015 Mexico Day 7

We started our day with some very sad news, an Uncle of Deb’s had passed away overnight. We feel for all Cliff’s family and friends, Especially Brian, Mirela and Nick. Our love is with them all.

After breakfast we went up to the large church at the city square near our hotel. It was open and lots of people were going in for the 9am Sunday service. I found it very reflective with the organ music playing, but Deb couldn’t find the peace she was looking for there, so we left.

When we got back to our hotel we were told our driver was there, we weren’t expecting to be picked up until 10am. So we finished packing (it was almost all done anyway) and had left the hotel by 9:20am for Oaxaca (pronounce Wa-harka) about 290km away (3hrs+ drive). Continue reading

No wake up bells or fireworks this morning! Deb was a bit worried that might happen, so her sleep was a bit patchy. Nothing but church/clock bells this morning. Continue reading

Day 25 San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato return 10th April 2015

Mexico Day 5

Today marks the midpoint of our holiday and to celebrate this fact the locals began our day with fireworks at 6am through to 9:30am (when we left town for the day) and church bells from 6:30am accompanied by singing. 🙂  Thank you very much people of San Miguel.  We have been told to expect the same tomorrow. Day 24 Mexico to San Miguel de Allende 9th April 2015 Mexico Day 4

Today we left the hotel around 9:30, almost without our passports and cash which I conveniently forgot was still in the safe in our room. Luckily I remembered just before we pulled out of the Hotel driveway.

Our move today takes us north-northwest of Mexico City, out of the Federal Territory of Mexico City, through Mexico State and Queretaro State and into  Guanajuato State.    Continue reading

Day 23 Teotihuacan Pyramids 8 April 2015 Mexico Day 3

We started our day OK, well so I thought. Deb was contemplating staying at the hotel as today promised to be a physical one at the Pyramids. But gladly, she changed her mind after taking drugs (before telling me any of it). Continue reading
