Dinner last night was good, thanks Bruce.  Craig and his family had eaten there before (some time ago) and were left unimpressed by their first experience, but I think they have changed their minds now 🙂

Sunday 14 Oct 2012 Port Stephens and Blacksmiths

We were up and on the road by about 9:30am  for a morning of markets.

Our first stop was the Nelson Bay Markets.  It was a busy little market and so much better than the one in Scone.  There were the full array of stalls you’d expect and most of them had good fresh produce. Continue reading →

We woke to another cold morning, 2 C in the van a probably a lot colder outside.  Deb cranked up the A/C and it took ages before it got to double figures.  Outside was all misty, particularly over the river Continue reading →

It was a tad cold here this morning, 6C, but it could have been a lot colder, it was snowing in the Blue Mountains  300km south of here.  Needless to say we didn’t hurry out of bed.

Luckily?, I woke at 3am sneezing (Deb putting her new feather duster to work on the blinds in the van late yesterday afternoon), after getting up to get a tissue I found the back end of the van wet! It was raining most of the night and we had left one of the roof vents fully open all night.  That’s where the luck comes in, I was able to close the vent and  mop up all the water before we got flooded out! We had a very relaxing sleep, Deb’s fear of lots of noise from the bus load of 7 year olds didn’t come to fruition, thankfully! After a quiet start to the day we headed off to the Dubbo Shoyoen Sister City Gardens. Continue reading →

We woke at 6am, but we moved our watches forward to 6.30  NSW time, eventually left around 7.30am.  We had an appointment at Ryan’s Caravans in Dubbo at 3pm, not sure if we are going to make it leaving so late.   Continue reading →

We had a great nights sleep, I think we have both slipped into holiday mode very easily.

We were out on the road around 8:30 on our way to The Broken Hill Sculpture Symposium and Living Desert Sanctuary, about 9km out of town.  The Sculpture Symposium is a placement of 12 sandstone sculptures on the top of a flat topped hill, that was put in place in early 1993.  Continue reading →

We were up at 5:30am (Deb was up at 5). Because of all the guttering and road works out in front of our home we decided to leave the caravan a street away last night. We packed all our clothes, and most of our food and drinks into it last night and locked it up ready for hitching up in the morning. Continue reading →
