November 2020 My Covid-19 Diary has been uploaded, just when you think things can’t get worse, they do!

Well it’s been another crazy month,

The USA Presidential election was held and there is still np “Official” winner, but it looks like Joe Biden has beaten Donald Trump. Trump has also been defeated in many lawsuits brought about to discredit/lay aside the election results.

The relationship between China and Australia is sinking to new lows

South Australia was placed into a 6 day shut down and got it done in 3 days!

We had planned a few “breaks”.

A couple of days in a brand new CBD hotel, that we postponed after a fresh Covid-19 outbreak.

A week in Perth WA to see our new grandson (and his parents) was cancelled for us when WA closed its borders to SA just 1.5 days after they opened them!

I guess this is the “New Normal” that gets talked about, don’t make plans too far in advance, things move quickly.

My November edition of my Covid-19 Diary can be found via this link, it continues to be grim reading.

I am just so glad we live in Australia and not anywhere in the northern hemisphere, the virus seems to be running unstoppable there.

My October 2020 Covid-19 Diary – The Pandemic takes hold

I have posted my October 2020 Covid-19 Diary, you can find it via this link. https://gregndeb.com/zero-hr-covid-19/10-october-2020-covid-19-the-pandemic-takes-hold-globally/

The pandemic has hit the world hard, particularly the northern hemisphere. The chart below shows the number of new infections from July 2020 to the end of October 2020. As you can see, the number of new Covid-19 cases is steadily increasing with no signs of it slowing down. The good news is that the death rate for those that develop Covid-19 seems to have plateaued, I assume because globally we are getting better at treating the disease.

My September Covid-19 Diary including a Comparison with the Spanish Flu has been posted,

Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to look into how our global experience with Coronavirus/Covid-19 compared to the 1918-20 global experience with the Spanish Flu.

To be short, and to quote the 1970’s band Bachman–Turner Overdrive, “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”. The Spanish Flu was in its time orders of magnitude worse that what we are experiencing.

10 to 15 August 2020 Victor Harbor, South Australia

We arrived down at Victor Harbor at about 2:30pm. The house was ready and we got straight in. The house we have is through a company called Petlet. They hire holiday homes where pets are welcome, and so we had Billie and Vince with us.

The house is an 1860’s cottage overlooking the sand dunes and straight out onto the bay between Granite Island and Victor Harbor. Continue reading Number of Views :880

6 August 2020  Life goes on but not as we would like.

Victoria has gone nuts with Covid-19, all States have shut their borders to varying degrees to the Covid infested state.

SA has basically shut our borders to all states except Tasmania and WA, but neither of them is letting anyone in.

Queensland has effectively shut its border to NSW, requiring anyone entering from NSW to quarantine for 14 days at their own expense in designated hotels.

Our Port Douglas holiday is laying in ruins around us. So we have cancelled it and are now having a couple of trips away in SA.

We have 5 days in Victor Harbor and a couple of nights booked in the hills. There is a fairly high probability we will be able to do these 2, no flights and no cross-state borders to contend with.

My continuing monthly blog on the Coronavirus/Covid-19 Pandemic is posted at the start of each month, the latest edition can be found here. https://gregndeb.com/zero-hr-covid-19/7-july-2020-covid-19-complacency-is-our-greatest-danger/

It seems as the longer we go into this the more I am starting to focus on the numbers, and they are scary. I hope that soon they will start to show some hope, but without a vaccine I am really not too optimistic.

I am sure there are brighter times ahead, but they just seem to be getting further out.Number of Views :773

1 July 2020 Life goes on in a Covid sort of way – Booking Flights again :-)

Hey all, Its been a while.

We have a holiday booked for August in the sun in North Queensland and Deb has just booked us some flights to get us there!

We are going via NSW so we can call in and see how mum is going in Gosford, then up north to thaw out and warm ourselves.

I had a thought at the start of all this Corona Virus / Covid-19 thing, that in the years to come we probably wont remember how things really were, so I have been keeping a record of how things have evolved both locally in Australia and world-wide. If your interested, I have posted monthly update pages that can be found here, https://gregndeb.com/zero-hr-covid-19/ . There is a lot of information, numbers and things and a wide range of daily information, I hope those that have a look find it at least a little bit enlightening. The stats on cases and deaths are truely frightening if you look at the way the virus has spread and progressed. You can also see the way different countries approached the pandemic and what that meant for them.

Happier updates to come, promise. 🙂

Holidays Postponed

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 with have decided to pause all our travel for this year. It was a very difficult decision but in the end with the data present it was easy to make.

Our travel agent Jenni has been amazing in juggling all our requests and helping get as much of our deposits etc back, and some travel deferred.

We will resume our travels when it is safe to do so, and we have some interesting plans.

Rather than just sit back and watch the COVID-19 impact on us, Australia and the world I have decided to make a record of the timeline of the Pandemic. I will be updating it monthly. If you have a look on our opening screen you will see a Page title Zero Hr COVID19, this is where you will find my musings. Or simple click here, https://gregndeb.com/zero-hr-covid-19/

Greg’s ramblings on England, Iceland, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland in 101 Days May to August 2019

Wow, what an amazing time. Deb and I are home now, and feels a bit strange. First night in our bed, with our pillows, in our apartment in Adelaide, how can that feel strange?

There was no time condition on breakfast,  hey, no need to get dressed for breakfast (mmm, too much information? , lol), no plans for sight seeing, nothing new to explore, no dinner reservation to be made, all our stuff is here. Yes, it was strange to wake and realise we are home. ?Yes, so much is different, but the same!
