We woke this morning to a very foggy Santa Monica, we couldn’t see much further than the other side of the road from our hotel, let alone the Pier. We found out late than this is the May/June Fog, and it happens every year at the change of season and is caused by ocean temperature variations and currents. Today we leave our friends John and Georgiana, our travel buddies for the last 15 days. It’s been fun as usual exploring new parts of the USA with you and we will miss having you both around. I wonder where we will next meet. Continue reading →

We got away from Pinetop at 8am and headed for the Apache Trail. We called into Globe on the way to pick up lunch provisions and then headed to the Roosevelt Dam to start the trail. The Trail is 41.5 miles long, mostly dirt road. It is over 100 years old. Continue reading →

Today we went to visit Fort Apache. It was the iconic Fort at the centre of the Apache wars and the American wild west. I know it instantly conjures up images of the F-Troop fort with its wooden outer wall, sentry towers and big swinging wooden gates. Continue reading →

Day 41 Sedona Arizona Sunday 26 April 2015  USA Day 13

We woke this morning is sunny Sedona to more rain showers, but Georgie promises the rain will stop by 7! (Sorry an in joke 🙂  ) The rain stopped before we left. 🙂

Day 39 Las Vegas Nevada to Grand Canyon Arizona Friday 24 April 2015 USA Day 11

We checked out of Aria at 8:30am and made our way to the airport by taxi to pick-up the hire car J & G had arranged. We got to the car rental place they sorted the paperwork out and we were on the road by 9:10am. You have to hand it to Vegas, there were banks of slot/poker machines in the car rental terminal. Georgie told us that one time she was here they held up a plane while people were cashing in their winnings on the airport slots!! Continue reading →
