Fullarton to Balranald 17th Feb 2012

We were lucky today, settlements went well, we left home at 12.20pm, had a great run through to Balranald, 513km in  5hrs 20mins.   The highlight of the drive was as we pulled into Balranald, got pulled over at a random breath test.  Greg just had to count to 10, no blowing!!  We got a few directions from the copper and we were off.   We have had dinner, brought it with us.   Feeling a tad tired, so will have an early night and hopefully be on the road early tomorrow.   Have 923 km to go to get to Wyoming tomorrow, so hopefully 9 1/2hrs of driving, should get in before 6 tomorrow 🙂

15 16 November 2011 Robe, Cape Jaffa and Kingston

Last night was a “little” crazy. We decided that Aiko needed her own Facebook page, so we set about creating it and then finding her a whole bunch of new friends. We had
so many laughs doing it, sometimes we had to stop just because of the fits of hysterical laughter we were in.  I know she will appreciate it. 🙂  She now has her own Facebook ID, aiko.woof, and her very own email address too!! Continue reading

14 November 2011 Robe South Australia

14 November 2011   Robe South Australia

Aiko slept well last night, and as a result so did we, thank goodness.

A red light on the toilet signal my first, and unavoidable, task of the day, a visit to the park “Dump Point”  (my old friend “apparently”).  What a way to start the day!

After breakfast we headed off to Beachport, about 45km south of Robe. We decided to take the coastal dirt road so we could call in and have a look at Nora Creina. Nora Creina is on private property, and is a “quaint” little village, where small parcels of land have been leased out to fisherman, who have then built fishing shacks there. It looks like it would be a fisherman’s heaven, fairly primitive living conditions and only a matter of minutes to the beach where you can launch tinnies from or take a drive up around the bay to find your own “secret” fishing spot.   I almost forgot, we are now in the country, so don’t forget
to lock the gate as you pass through! Continue reading

Robe South Australia 11, 12 & 13 Nov 2011

11 November 2011  Home to Keith

We got away from home at around 3:20pm and headed south. I chose to go via the Dukes Highway, even though it was a bit further than the Princes Highway, as it seemed that there were a couple of reasonable Free camps about 3hrs drive away. Continue reading

Sat 27 & Sun 28 Aug 2011 Ti Tree to Alice Springs 190km + Alice Springs

We left Ti Tree around around 8:30am and began our short drive to Alice Springs. We weren’t expecting anything too exciting on this “short drive”. That thought was short lived.

About 60km south of Ti Tree (135km north of Alice Springs) is a little settlement by the name of Aieron, home to one of the best kept secrets in this part of the world, The Anmatjere Man. Continue reading

Thurs 25th Aug Katherine to Daly Waters via Mataranka

We had a restless night last night, we found out that Aiko had had another seizure (she had one 6 weeks ago) – but she was doing ok since having it.    Carly took her to the vet at 9.30am this morning, they ran some tests on her and she is doing just fine –that was a relief – felt like a weight lifted 🙂

We left camp before 8am, Continue reading
